Erasure

I saw you for the first time the other day – from the corner of my eye.
So I’m not crazy – or am I?
I couldn’t see you before because you lived behind my eyes but lately, I’ve been catching glimpses of you.
Why can I see you only now if you’ve been hiding here all along?
Is it because I’m looking for you?
If I give you a name can I control you?
Just in case I’ll call you Rage and say you’re mine until I let you go.
With a pen and some paper as weapons, I’ll write you out of my story.
Our characters are intertwined so I’ll make them diverge.
The day will come when I’ll have you meet an unfortunate end in the plot.
But this morning, I stumble half asleep to the office and the only thing I can find is a dried-out marker.
Today, I can only scribble clumsily on the surface and you live deep within the story line in another chapter.
No matter, though.
As long as I try.
The day will come when the pendulum will reach the end of it’s upward swing, pause, then reverse.
In that infinitesimal moment between up and down – when all movement stops – I will be able to see you in your whole and I will erase you altogether.

I am an eccentric blogger and artist. I currently live off-grid which makes for some great stories. :)
